Front cover illustration: A springtime tradition for many families is a tour around Flathead Lake to see the cherry orchards in bloom. The lake area has been famous for its sweet cherries since 1929 when it was discovered that the climate was favorable for their growth. Hit by severe killing frosts several years ago, many trees died; but some persistent growers have replanted, much to the delight of everyone. Cherry stands once again dot the shore, selling the beautiful, sumptuous fruit.
